Man sentenced to prison after hidden camera captures him assaulting sleeping woman in San Tan Valley

Mark Pearson, 56, was recently sentenced to 10 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to sexual assault.

PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. — A Florence man has been sentenced to a decade in prison after he was caught sexually assaulting a woman while she slept.

Mark Pearson, 56, was sentenced earlier this month in Pinal County Superior Court after he pleaded guilty to charges of sexual assault and attempted sexual assault, according to the Pinal County Attorney's Office.

The sheriff's office responded to a San Tan Valley home in September 2022 after getting a call about a sexual offense that had occurred in one of the residence's bedrooms.

A hidden camera set up in the bedroom had reportedly captured Pearson reaching underneath the bedding and making sexual contact with a sleeping woman.

Prosecutors said the woman later told investigators that Pearson had no reason to be in her room and indicated she and Pearson had never been in an intimate relationship.

In addition to serving 10 years in prison, Pearson was sentenced to lifetime probation and ordered to register as a sex offender.
