PHOENIX — An 18-year-old boy was arrested this afternoon after he shot and killed his stepfather at their north Phoenix home, the city's police department said.

Phoenix police officers were called to a shooting incident at Cheryl Drive around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday. When officers got to the apartment complex, they spoke to the 18-year-old, later identified as Camron Greenwood, and a witness.

When officers searched the apartment, they found 39-year-old Eugena Smith who had a gunshot wound. Smith was taken to the hospital but did not survive his injuries.

Detectives investigating the incident said Greenwood and his stepfather, Smith, were involved in an argument at the apartment. During the argument, they also fought physically, and Greenwood pulled out a gun and shot Smith, police said.

Greenwood has been arrested and is facing charges of second degree murder, police said. No other details were released.
