PHOENIX — A man has died after a shooting in north Phoenix Wednesday afternoon, the city police department announced.
The incident began as a fight around 3 p.m. near 21st Avenue and Thunderbird Road before escalating into a shooting, witnesses told police.
When police arrived, they found two adult men, one with a gunshot wound. First responders rushed him to the hospital where he later died.
The second man on scene was taken into custody and released after questioning. Investigators are working to learn more about the shooting, and no charges have been recommended at this time.
The identity of the deceased wasn't disclosed.
