PHOENIX — A man accused of assaulting a woman and child with a knife is in the hospital after injuring himself, Phoenix police said. Now, he could be facing multiple counts of aggravated assault.
Officers were called to an apartment complex near 7th Avenue and Indian School Road around 2 a.m. for reports of a stabbing.
When they arrived, they found the man apparently intoxicated with several "superficial" cuts to his arm, according to a police report.
A woman at the apartment initially told police that another man had stabbed him. However, police said that "this was later changed to the man attempting to assault the woman and a child inside of the apartment with the knife."
The man's identity hasn't been released. The investigation is still underway and details are subject to change.
