Foul play suspected after a man was found dead in a Valley park, police say

The man was found dead in Cave Creek Park, near 19th Avenue and Cactus Road on Saturday morning. Here's what we know.

PHOENIX — Foul play is suspected after a man was found dead in a park, according to Phoenix police. 

The department told 12News that officers were called to a park near 23rd Avenue and Larkspur Drive due to an injured person on Saturday morning. 

That area is just northwest of the intersection of 19th Avenue and Cactus Road. It is also just west of Shaw Butte. The only park in that area is Cave Creek Park.  

When officers got to the park, they found a man dead. "Suspicious trauma" was found on the man's body, police said.

Police identified the victim as 47-year-old Nazario Lopez-Felix. 

Anyone with information should contact Phoenix police or Silent Witness if they wish to remain anonymous.
