PHOENIX — A woman was arrested Monday after police said she shot and killed her boyfriend at an apartment in north Phoenix on Feb. 19.
Officers with the Phoenix Police Department were called to an apartment complex near 7th Street and Hatcher Road around 9:30 a.m. for reports of a fight. When they arrived, they were directed to an apartment where they found a man with a gunshot wound.
First responders took the man, who hasn't been identified at this time, to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.
Tiana Hodges was arrested and faces second-degree murder charges.
Witnesses told police Hodges was in possession of a handgun and that she and her boyfriend had recently moved into the apartment together, according to a probable cause statement.
Before the shooting, witnesses said Hodges and another woman were in an altercation over a stolen TV when the victim tried to break it up.
Hodges then allegedly pointed a gun at people on the apartment landing, was pushed into the apartment and the door closed. Police said someone on the landing broke a window to the apartment and that's when a single shot was fired through the window from the inside, hitting the victim.
Hodges changed her shirt before leaving the apartment and complex, police said.
A witness told police Hodges was the only person in the apartment when the gun was fired.
Hodges was arrested a week later and told police she knew nothing about the shooting but did admit to taking the TV and returning it.
