Man dies after shooting at Phoenix motel

Phoenix police officers were called to a motel near Interstate 17 and Sweetwater Avenue just before 7:15 p.m. Monday night.

PHOENIX — A man is dead after a shooting at a Phoenix motel that happened Monday evening, city police announced on Tuesday.

Officers were called to the motel, located near Interstate 17 and Sweetwater Avenue, north of Cactus Road, around 7:15 p.m. on Monday.

When police arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound. First responders rushed him to the hospital where he later died from his injuries, police said.

Officers learned that the shooter fled before police arrived. The investigation is still underway as of Tuesday morning.

Police have not released the victim's identity at this time.

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case. 

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
