Man hit by car found inside suspect's home in Mohave County

The victim was hit Saturday morning around 2:15 a.m. near the 2100 block of Palms Drive, according to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.

MOHAVE COUNTY, Ariz. — A man has been arrested in Mohave County after hitting and killing a pedestrian, then telling investigators someone else did it, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim was hit Saturday morning around 2:15 a.m. near the 2100 block of Palms Drive in Mohave Valley, according to the sheriff's office. When officers arrived, they found the victim inside the suspect's home, officials said. He later died at the hospital.

The sheriff's office said Anthony David Duarte, 30, called in to report the victim had been hit but said an unknown vehicle was responsible.

It was later determined that Duarte, after giving a series of conflicting statements to investigators, was the one who had hit the victim, the sheriff's office said.

Duarte is facing a second-degree murder charge.
