PHOENIX — A man is facing multiple charges after police say he fired a shotgun at a group of teenagers outside his home, striking a 16-year-old with one of the pellets.
The teen suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Police say around 1:32 a.m., 29-year-old Jose Alvarez-Ontiveros exited his residence near Thomas Road and 67th Avenue armed with a shotgun.
He confronted a group of teenagers who were parked in front of his residence, police say. He told them to leave and then fired rounds from his shotgun into the ground and at the occupied vehicles.
That's when the 16-year-old victim was struck.
As police surrounded Alvarez-Ontiveros' home, he surrendered and was taken into custody.
Alvarez-Ontiveros was booked into jail for aggravated assault and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
The investigation is ongoing.
