On July 5, police were called to the hotel for reports that a security guard found a woman shot in one of the rooms. The woman, later identified as 28-year-old Desiree Serpas, died from her injuries.

Phoenix police were able to gather enough evidence at the crime scene to establish probable cause and arrested 40-year-old Dominique Jackson on Monday.

Jackson was booked into Maricopa County jail and faces a murder charge. The investigation is still underway.
