PHOENIX — A man was taken into custody early Thursday after reportedly making threats in a parking lot near the Dignity Health hospital in Laveen.
The Phoenix Police Department said the 53-year-old man, who appeared to have mental health issues, was reportedly making threats inside a vehicle.
Officers secured the area and the Special Assignments Unit responded.
Less-lethal tools were used to remove the man from the vehicle.
After he was removed from the area, the bomb squad searched the vehicle and nothing suspicious was found.
The man is in police custody and is in the process of being booked into jail.
The suspect was identified on Thursday as William Guilford, 53 years old.
