Goodyear man wanted for murder of woman in Ohio captured in Texas

Dawan Wilson will be extradited back to Portage County, Ohio to face charges for the November homicide of a 35-year-old woman.

KENT, Ohio — The Kent Police Department has announced that Dawan Wilson, wanted for the murder of a 35-year-old woman last month, has been captured in Texas.

Kent police officials were contacted by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, which is in the Houston area, with the update that Wilson was arrested on Monday. 

The shooting happened on Nov. 21, in the 1300 block of South Water Street in Kent. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found that a woman who had been fatally shot. Following the shooting, police identified 44-year-old Dawan R. Wilson as a suspect. Investigators believe that Wilson, who had a domestic relationship with the victim, traveled to Kent from his home in Goodyear, Arizona. 

Prior to the arrest, the U.S. Marshals' Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force had offered a reward of up to $1,500 for information that led to Wilson's capture. 

"We do not have any further details on Wilson’s arrest, and Kent Police detectives have not yet had the opportunity to interview the suspect. Wilson will be extradited back to Portage County to face charges for the November homicide," Kent police said in a statement.
