Teen shot in west Phoenix, police looking for suspect

Authorities are investigating what led up to the shooting near 99th Avenue and Indian School Road.

PHOENIX — Phoenix police are searching for a suspect who shot a teenage boy in west Phoenix Friday night.

Authorities said officers were called to the area of 99th Avenue and Indian School Road for an unknown trouble call.

When police arrived on scene, they learned the teen was shot and actively running from a male suspect who was seen in a passenger car leaving the area.

Police said officers located the victim in a large open area nearby. The teen was transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. 

Officers could not locate the suspect but said they were following all leads provided by witnesses.

Details of what led up to the shooting are still under investigation.

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case.

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
