Juvenile hospitalized in Peoria shooting

Officials with the Peoria Police Department said a juvenile has been hospitalized following a shooting near 79th Drive and Deer Valley Road.

PEORIA, Ariz — A juvenile has been hospitalized following a shooting in Peoria, according to the Peoria Police Department.

Police said the shooting happened Monday afternoon near 79th Drive and Deer Valley Road.

The juvenile was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The incident remains under investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available, police said.

This is the third time a juvenile has been shot in the Valley since Saturday.

On Jan. 14, a teen was shot in Phoenix in the area of 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road, and later died at the hospital.

On Sunday night, two teenagers and a pregnant woman were shot in Phoenix near 48th Street and Broadway Road. The victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone who has information on a crime or recognizes a suspect described by the program is asked to call 480-948-6377, go to the program's website online or download the Silent Witness app to provide a tip. The identity of anyone who submits a tip is kept anonymous.

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case.

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
