1 person taken into custody after crash, pursuit near I-17

The chase, which was on foot, happened near the intersection of Colter Street and Black Canyon Highway in Phoenix. Here are the latest details.

PHOENIX — One person has been taken into custody after a police chase that resulted from a driver not stopping when police attempted to pull them over, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety and video from the scene.

DPS says troopers tried to pull a car over for a traffic violation on Interstate 17 on Monday afternoon. However, the car did not stop and crashed into another vehicle near I-17 and Colter Street.

Video from Sky 12 shows a car that crashed into a wall at that intersection.

The suspect then ran from the crash. Troopers began to search for the driver on foot in the nearby neighborhood.

Sky 12 video also showed troopers taking a person into custody near the crash site.
