Human skulls found at Mesa auto business during theft investigation

MESA, Ariz. — Two people were arrested last week after state troopers reported finding stolen cars, firearms, drugs and human skulls at a Mesa auto business.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety said investigators executed a search warrant on Feb. 8 at Meadows Auto near 1st Avenue and Country Club Drive and allegedly uncovered incriminating evidence.

Investigators reported finding seven stolen vehicles, a sawed-off shotgun, two rifles, two pounds of methamphetamine and two human skulls on the property. 

Property owner Eddie Meadows, 45, was arrested on charges of car theft and drug possession, DPS said. 

Another suspect, 40-year-old Tara Montgomery, was arrested on drug charges. 

DPS said the human skulls were turned over to the medical examiner for further investigation. DPS did not disclose whether investigators know yet how the skulls ended up at the Mesa business or whether they're connected to the vehicle thefts.
