Homicide suspect in custody after barricade situation in Globe

U.S. Marshals said the suspect shot at officers before barricading himself inside a home near Russell Road and US 60.

GLOBE, Ariz. — A homicide suspect was taken into custody Friday after a standoff involving U.S. Marshals in Globe.

The U.S. Marshals Office said around 4 p.m., task force members were investigating a suspect with warrants for weapons violations and a recent homicide. 

Authorities said the suspect was eventually located and when officers attempted to contact the man, he shot at officers. He then barricaded himself inside a home near Russell Road and US 60.  

U.S. Marshals said officers were able to negotiate a peaceful surrender, and the suspect was taken into custody

Authorities said the Mesa Police Department, the Department of Public Safety, the Globe Police Department, the Gila County Sheriff’s Department, and numerous other partner agencies are on the scene assisting with the investigation. 

The suspect is not being identified at this time.

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case.

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
