Surviving victim begs hitman to say who hired him to kill woman in Scottsdale

The murder-for-hire case occurred in December 2020 and involved the defendants holding women hostage.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — A man hired to commit murder in Scottsdale was sentenced this week to life in prison, officials said.

Jose A. Beltran, 31, was recently given a life sentence in Maricopa County Superior Court after he had been found guilty of first-degree murder, attempted murder, and burglary.

Beltran and Adrian Espinoza were arrested for their involvement in an incident that resulted in the death of Andrea Garcia on Dec. 8, 2020 near 90th Street and Sweetwater Avenue.

Court records show the two suspects had showed up to a Scottsdale residence with zip-ties and duct tape. They reportedly held multiple women hostage and killed Garcia.

The Maricopa County Attorney's Office said investigators uncovered evidence suggesting Beltran had been hired to kill, but the reason behind the transaction still remains unclear.

During Beltran's sentencing, one of the surviving victims begged the defendant to disclose who sent him to kill that day in Scottsdale.

Espinoza was given a life sentence last April.
