GLENDALE, Ariz. — The Arizona Department of Public Safety is looking for two suspects after an attempted traffic stop led to a trooper-involved shooting in Glendale Thursday evening.
Around 5:30 p.m., DPS said troopers became aware of several known gang members involved in an illegal weapons sale, during which a robbery took place.
Troopers tried to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle at 91st and Montebello avenues when the suspect vehicle rammed the DPS car.
DPS said a suspect then pointed a gun at the troopers, prompting a trooper to return fire.
One suspect was shot and stayed at the scene while the others ran, DPS said. The suspect is in critical condition.
Law enforcement is still looking for two suspects.
A large law enforcement presence remains in the area.
