GILBERT, Ariz. — A bicyclist was seriously injured when he was hit by a car, according to Gilbert police.
Police said the crash happened near the intersection of Higley and Queen Creek roads around 1:25 p.m. on Saturday.
The bicyclist, a 66-year-old man, was taken to a nearby hospital where he is in critical condition.
Police said impairment is believed to have been a factor in the crash, but did not specify whether the driver of the car or the bicyclist was the person suspected to be impaired. The driver stayed at the scene of the crash.
The crash is still under investigation.
