PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. — A former foster parent was sentenced Friday to 218 years in prison after a woman who had been under his care came forward with troubling revelations about the defendant.
Francisco Medina, 53, was convicted of multiple sex crimes against a minor after a former foster child of his revealed that she had been abused by Medina in the 1990s.
The woman told investigators that Medina would enter her bedroom at night and sexually abuse her, according to the Pinal County Attorney's Office.
During Friday's sentencing hearing, the victim told the court that Medina was "pure evil" and detailed the emotional hardship she's endured as a result of the abuse.
"I hope this outcome gives the victim some small amount of closure and helps her in healing," Pinal County Attorney Kent Volkmer said in a statement. "I can't fathom what she's had to deal with, but I admire her strength and courage to hold her perpetrator accountable."
Medina is already serving a life sentence in Arizona for abusing another child under his care in Pima County.
