PHOENIX — A man has died days after he was shot following an argument in west Phoenix, city police announced on Tuesday morning.

According to police reports, Paul Albert Lopez Jr., 37, was shot Sunday night around 11:30 p.m. near 51st Avenue and Indian School Road. The person who called 911 reportedly heard gunshots and saw multiple people running away.

When officers arrived, they found Lopez in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital where he died sometime later, officials said.

Investigators learned that Lopez had been in a verbal argument with two other people just before he was shot. No suspects have been detained, but detectives are "actively following leads," police said.

Officials encouraged anyone with information to reach out to Phoenix police or leave a tip through Silent Witness.
