The investigation into the incident began at 5:15 p.m. when dispatch received reports of a car driving "erratically" and causing several crashes.

Police didn't say how many vehicles had been hit by the driver.

Officers arrived at the scene and found the driver, a woman, was still operating the car. They tried to get the woman to stop driving and get out, however she didn't comply.

"The woman refused to obey commands and drove at a marked police Tahoe striking it before taking off eastbound on Indian School Road," police said.

The police cruiser was slightly damaged as a result of the incident, police said.

According to police, officers continued to try and stop the woman.

"Officers tracked the woman and her vehicle to the area of 44th Street and Indian School Road where the woman was taken into custody," police said.

Officers remain on scene and are conducting several investigations related to the incident, police said.

According to police, the woman will face several charges related to the crashes.
