DPS trooper hospitalized after being dragged by a car in the West Valley

The trooper was conducting a traffic stop when he was dragged by a vehicle, DPS said. Authorities say they've arrested the suspect.

PHOENIX — A man has been arrested after dragging a DPS trooper behind his car, authorities said. The incident led to a police chase, and footage from the arrest shows that there was a child in the vehicle with the suspect. 

The trooper had been conducting a traffic stop in the northbound lanes of SR-303 near milepost 123 in the West Valley when he was dragged by the car, DPS said.

Although DPS says it's unknown how far the trooper was dragged, they did confirm that he's recovering.

The incident led to a chase that ended near 7th Street and Bell Road where witnesses on the scene say they saw a driver stopped and arrested.

Witnesses also said that a woman and a child were in the car with the suspect at the time of the arrest.

Footage taken from the scene appears to show the trooper's belt and personal radio caught under the vehicle.

DPS hasn't released the identity of the suspect at this time.

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case. 

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
