DENVER - Denver Police officer Eric Sellers was found not guilty of driving while under the influence and prohibited use of weapon on Thursday.
Sellers was, however, found guilty of careless driving and was fined.
According to court records, Colorado State Patrol pulled over Sellers on Valentine's Day in Castle Rock. He was then charged with DUI, careless driving and a weapons charge. The weapons charge stems from having his weapon "while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or a controlled substance."
Sellers has been with the Denver Police Department since 1995.
In 2011, Sellers was suspended for 40 days for wrongdoing connected to the arrest of Brighton volunteer firefighter Jared Lunn in 2008.
"We are happy that the justice system worked and the jury of our peers confirmed Mr. Sellers' innocence regarding the DUI and prohibited use of weapon charge," Jay Tiftickjian, Sellers' attorney, said.
