One victim died at the scene and has been identified as 16-year-old Jaylan Collins. The two other teenage victims, a boy and a girl sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
12News spoke with Collins's parents on Monday. The family declined to speak on camera but said they last spoke with their son Sunday afternoon. The family said they had not received much information about the scene.
Raymond Norris skates at Snedigar Sportsplex and saw the shooting Sunday night.
"We heard the shots and one of our friends could see the gun, and the flash of the gun," he said.
Parents like Christopher Muraira, who bring their kids to the park, were shocked to hear about the shooting so close to home.
"I'm just keeping the, our thoughts and prayers and, you know, for the victims and the victim's family, you know, that's pretty sad. Especially to the teenagers. You know, it's just so sad to see, you know, these young lives ended soon. You know them when they have so much potential to grow,' he said.
No arrests have been made in the case as of March 13.
Police said the shooting was an "isolated incident" and there was no threat to the community. The incident had occurred between two groups of people who knew each other and none of the involved parties were residents of Chandler.
The investigation is ongoing and Chandler police ask anyone who has seen any suspicious activity to call (480) 782-4130.
