MIAMI, Ariz. — An investigation has been launched after a group of men tried to abduct four girls near Miami High School, according to the Gila County Sheriff's Office.
GCSO said the alleged attempted abduction happened at about 3:30 p.m. on March 20. Four men, who GCSO said were either Hispanic or Native American, drove up to the girls, who were between the ages of 10 and 12, in two dark-colored pickup trucks as the girls were walking along Ragus Road, toward Miami High School.
GCSO said one of the trucks was possibly black and that a man in the passenger seat threw items at the girls to try and lure them toward the truck.
The other truck was also black and is believed to be either a GMC or Chevrolet Silverado four-door pickup truck and had a bag over the license plate, according to GCSO.
The sheriff's office said the second truck was being driven by a man who appeared to be about 40 years old when it pulled up to the group of girls. Another man, who appeared to be in his late teens, allegedly called for the girls to come to the truck.
You can see a picture of this truck below.
The girls ran from the area, but were found by the second truck when they got near Miami High School. The passenger in the second truck got out and tried to chase one of the girls who had become separated, but the man soon gave up the chase.
The Gila County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information can call GCSO at (928) 425-4449 Opt. No. 1.
