PHOENIX — A man who was arrested and booked on several charges, including four counts of arson, was wearing an ankle monitor that put him at the scene of each crime, according to court documents obtained by 12News.
Justin Hurd, 42, admitted to causing four fires after police told him they had GPS information from his ankle monitor that matched the area and times of the crimes, the documents said.
Hurd was arrested on May 2 after initially running from officers, according to court documents. Officers said Hurd threw a gun while running.

Hurd allegedly admitted to causing a car fire on April 1 after he broke into the car to use drugs. He told police he fell asleep with a torch going and it fell and started the fire, court documents said.
On April 9, Hurd admitted to setting another car on fire after people called him names, court documents said. On April 27, Hurd said he got into an open car but did not remember how the fire started, documents show. Hurd also told police he again fell asleep while using drugs in another car on April 29 and his torch accidentally started the fire.
"For each of these fires, his ankle bracelet GPS places him in the exact location where the fire occurred at the exact time that it started," court documents. said.
Hurd was booked on four counts of arson, resisting arrest, misconduct involving weapons, and drug charges after being found with 200 "blue circular pills imprinted with M30" which officers believe are laced with fentanyl, the documents said.
Hurd is not eligible for bail, documents said.
