1 dead, 1 injured after Glendale shooting, suspect in custody

Glendale Police Department officials said the shooting suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Steven Gonzalez.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — A person is dead and another is injured after reports of a shooting in Glendale.

Around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, officers conducting a traffic stop near 61st Avenue and Bethany Home Road were approached by a motorist suffering from a gunshot wound needing help. The 30-year-old victim was taken to the hospital and treated for a non-life-threatening injuries, Glendale police said.

At the same time, other officers responded to the area near 67th Avenue and Bethany Home Road to investigate a shot spotter activation. When officers arrived on scene, they found a man on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. Police said he was dead on-scene.

The deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Mar’Quane McQueen.

Authorities also said officers found a subject in the front yard of a home who was detained and questioned. He's been identified as 27-year-old Steven Gonzalez.

Glendale police said video footage and witnesses helped to identify Gonzalez as the suspect. He's facing charges of murder and aggravated assault.

The investigation is ongoing.
