PHOENIX — Two men were found dead in a home in north Phoenix after officers responded to a shooting, officials with the Phoenix Police Department said.
Officers were called to a home near 43rd and Peoria avenues at 5:20 p.m. for reports of gunshots. When officers got to the scene, they found a man with a gunshot wound inside the home. The man was taken out of the home by officers to nearby first responders for treatment but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers went back inside the home and found another man with "obvious signs of trauma," Phoenix officers said. He was also pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers secured the area and detectives were called to take over the investigation. Preliminary information suggests the two men had gotten into a dispute that escalated to gunfire being exchanged.
The deceased men have been identified as 61-year-old Martin Lewis and 86-year-old Richard Hall.
