PHOENIX — A 19-year-old man has been sentenced to 31 years in prison for fatally shooting a woman in the face during a robbery in Buckeye, officials said.

Guillermo Amador III was recently sentenced in court after he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and aggravated assault for an incident reported near Baseline and Apache roads on Dec. 5, 2022.

The defendant used a fake Instagram account to lure a man out to a remote location where they could conduct a vape transaction, according to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.

The man brought along his girlfriend, 19-year-old Emilie Gomez, for the transaction, during which Amador fired shots at the couple. Gomez died from her injuries and the other victim sustained lifelong injuries, MCAO said.

The defendant was 17 at the time of the shooting.
