18-year-old dead after shooting in Peoria

Peoria police said the deceased teen was involved in an altercation that occurred Monday night near Lone Mountain Parkway and El Mirage Road.

PEORIA, Ariz. — An 18-year-old has died after sustaining gunshot wounds Monday night at a home in Peoria, police said. 

Ryan Garcia of Peoria was allegedly involved in an altercation near Lone Mountain Parkway and El Mirage Road that eventually escalated to gunfire being exchanged. 

Peoria police said four subjects arrived at the residence and one of them entered without permission. The residents got into a fight with the suspect. 

Garcia was fatally shot and two people tried leaving the scene before they were stopped by police and detained. All the involved subjects were interviewed and Peoria police are currently not submitting charges against them 

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with additional information can call 623-773-7045.

The county was named after the Maricopa, or Piipaash, Native American Tribe.
