Police are looking for a suspected shooter after a 33-year-old man was killed at a house party

The shooting occurred during a party at a home near 51st Avenue and Thomas Road early Saturday morning, police say.

PHOENIX — A 33-year-old man was killed in a shooting at a house party in the West Valley early Saturday morning, the Phoenix Police Department tells 12News.

Phoenix police said that officers were called to a home on the 2800 block of 48th Lane at about 4:20 a.m. on Saturday due to the shooting.

When officers got to the scene, they found a man who had been shot. That man has been identified as 33-year-old Humberto Ortiz.

Officers then began trying to save Ortiz's life while waiting for firefighters to arrive and take over. However, Ortiz's injuries were too severe and he died at the scene.

Detectives then responded and began investigating. Their preliminary investigation shows that Ortiz was shot by an unknown person who left the scene before officers arrived.

If you know who the shooter is or where they may be, you are asked to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO to report a tip in Spanish.
