QUEEN CREEK, Ariz — The Queen Creek Town Council honored a local boy Wednesday night after he helped save his little sister after she fell into a swimming pool.
Cole Silva was presented with a special award by the police and fire departments in recognition of his quick actions that potentially saved his sister's life back in August.
According to the town, Cole witnessed his 3-year-old sister fall into the backyard pool and quickly jumped in to rescue her. The boy, who was 7 at the time, called out for help, which was heard by a family friend who ran over to help administer CPR on the sister.
The girl was reportedly breathing and responsive by the time paramedics arrived at scene, town officials said.
“We are proud to honor an act of bravery by a young man in our community,” Queen Creek Police Chief Randy Brice said in a statement. “Cole’s heroic actions on that day saved the life of his sister. We applaud Cole’s initiative, bravery and selflessness.”
