Nearly 10,000 kids in need of foster care in Arizona

March is National Social Workers month, 12News is spotlighting those who work tirelessly to help kids.

PHOENIX — In Arizona, there are nearly 10,000 children in need of foster care, according to the Department of Child Safety.

Many of those children rely on social workers. And since March is National Social Workers month, 12News is spotlighting those who work tirelessly to help these kids.

DCS works closely with organizations like The Foster Alliance, formerly known as Arizona Helping Hands.

Social workers like Yasaman Tabrizi, who’s been helping this industry for more than a decade, said this passion for helping little ones with no homes is always a work in progress.

"It has its hard days but it’s worth it in the end because it’s for the kids,” she explained.

Social workers with the Foster Alliance continue to advocate for thousands of children across the state of Arizona, year-round.

"We have multiple programs focused on having the things they need, like socks, shoes, underwear, diapers, the list goes on," she said
