On March 31 many will honor the legacy of Cesar Chavez.
Chavez, born March 31, 1927, was the Chicano Civil Rights leader focused on using nonviolent strategies to boycott and marches to help improve the conditions for farm workers in California, Arizona and Florida.
Chavez was one of the co-founders of the National Farm Workers Association in the 1960s and gained a successful support to have the association be recognized as the first successful farm workers' union in the United States.
If you didn't know, Cesar Chavez Day is recognized in Arizona and many state offices, schools and businesses will be closed.
