Blue Star Moms send warriors love from the southwest Valley

Blue Star Moms of the Southwest Valley send monthly care packages to military service members deployed in dangerous places.

PHOENIX — Each year, Historic Downtown Glendale celebrates moms on Mother's Day and uses the event to donate to a charity.

On Saturday, that charity was Blue Star Moms of the Southwest Valley. The organization is made up of mothers and grandmothers of active duty members of all branches of the armed forces.

Each month, the mothers get together for packing parties, where they put together care packages for those keeping Americans safe at home and abroad. The goods make their way to those who may not be receiving anything from home.

The mothers see the packages as a way to serve alongside their children, who are active duty members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard.
