Stores are ready to get rid of seasonal merchandise which means big sales for consumers

Many retailers are looking to get rid of merchandise which means big sales for consumers.

PHOENIX — The summertime deals are heating up.

For today's Money Saving Monday, we're looking at the best end-of-summer deals you should get in on before Labor Day weekend.

Plenty of stores already have ads out for end-of-summer discounts and Labor Day deals. Many retailers are looking to get rid of merchandise which means big sales for consumers.

"I'm always looking for a way to save a few coins," said Jacqueline Schadeck, financial advisor and host of My Money Mentors.

Schadeck shared some of the best deals to look out for right now, starting with Amazon.

"They've been having much more discounts, deals and sales," she said. "Big sales are going to be on home goods and electronics… I have had my eye on a new TV.”

One of Schadeck’s favorite websites to use when she’s looking for the most inexpensive price is dupe.com.

"You can take the URL from anything you're looking at purchasing, and you can pop it into dupe.com, and then they can tell you all of the sites that that item is available on and cheaper prices for you,” Schadek said. “So, it's super, super helpful, especially right now around the Labor Day sales."

“Lowe's and Home Depot and other home improvement stores… running huge discounts on fall flowers, mulch, anything you might want to improve your yard," said Jenny Martin with Southern Savers.

She’s passionate about saving money.

"Deals on paint and home projects for inside the house," Martin said.

Martin says anytime we have a 3-day weekend, it's a huge weekend to shop for big-ticket items like appliances, mattresses, outdoor equipment, and grills.

It’s also a great time to look out for deals on sporting goods, TVs and other large electronics.

For many retailers, Labor Day weekend is typically their peak clearance weekend as they move warm weather inventory to restock their shelves with fall and winter gear.

“You're going to see all summer clothing hitting up to 50-75% off," said Martin.

And experts say some retailers will offer an additional coupon on top of that clearance price.

“We are seeing retailers discount the items that are specific to the summer season, and those deals will deepen as Labor Day approaches," said Trae Bodge, shopping expert.

Keep in mind, while some end-of-the-summer and Labor Day deals are hard to beat, experts say the best time of the year to buy items like beauty and pet products for the lowest prices tends to be around the Thanksgiving holiday, not Labor Day.
