ARIZONA, USA — Being a small business owner can be tough. Keeping a business open and afloat during the Coronavirus pandemic is extremely challenging.
A new report from The East Valley Chambers of Commerce Alliance (EVCCA) shows just how hard the current situation is on business owners. A survey conducted of its more than 5,000 members found that businesses need an immediate need for access to cash to keep the doors open. One of the top recommendations is to streamline the SBA loan application, as well as, limit restrictions.
Business owners are also trying to figure out how to accommodate new Sick Leave, FMLA and payroll tax cuts. Plenty of businesses are trying to adjust to the new workflow, and finding new duties to keep current employees on the job.
Gov. Doug Ducey announced he is issuing an executive order to implement changes statewide to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
In a series of tweets Thursday, Ducey said he is requiring restaurants in counties with confirmed cases of COVID-19 to provide dine-out options only. Restaurants are allowed to deliver alcoholic drinks with a food purchase.
The executive order also closes all bars, movie theaters and gyms in the affected counties.
The big takeaway from the EVCAA report is something that everyone is asking for; accurate and consistent information. Business owners are asking for clarity and essential service protocols so that employers can keep the doors open, keep people working and keep customers safe.
