PHOENIX — Moviegoers, listen up!
Roadhouse Cinemas in Scottsdale is back up and running.
However, this decision comes as the number of COVID-19 cases are climbing in a hurry.
"We have to figure out what is the new normal,” said Azra Bajraktarevic, the theater’s manager.
“And we want to make sure we get that down before we start getting these big blockbuster movies coming out later in the year."
In the meantime, there are a number of safety precautions in place: Tickets must be purchased online, sanitizer is in all auditoriums, capacity is limited to 50% and customers can request plastic-ware instead of silverware.
As for the employees, Bajraktarevic says, “every employee has to wear a mask. And we do (temperature) checks before they clock in."
Bajraktarevic says she believes that Roadhouse Cinemas is one of the only theaters open, at least locally.
She hopes her team can pave the way for other theaters to open safely.
"Studios aren't really releasing movies, so movie theaters don't want to open,” she said.
“But like I said, we're just trying to figure out our new normal. And this is the best way to go, while we're super slow."
