PHOENIX — If you need to mail a present to a loved one but cannot get to the post office during the week, you're in luck.
Post offices across Arizona will offer special weekend hours at certain locations to ensure that you can send your holiday presents on time.
It aims to make customers’ holiday shipping tasks a bit more convenient, the U.S. Postal Service said.
The Postal Service said it expects to have millions of cards, letters and packages move through mail processing facilities in Arizona during the holidays.
"This has been an extraordinary year of unprecedented challenges given the Covid-19 pandemic and the Postal Service is expecting significant volume increases which are difficult to predict," the Postal Service said in a statement.
The Postal Service said the busiest time of the season peaks two weeks before Christmas, when much of the last-minute shopping starts.
Customer traffic is expected to increase starting on Monday, with the week of Dec. 14-21 predicted to be the busiest mailing, shipping and delivery week.
The following locations will offer special holiday retail hours on three Saturdays before Christmas: Dec. 5, 12 and 19.
