MESA, Ariz. — An elderly Mesa woman reported missing last month has been found deceased, according to the Mesa Police Department.
A car belonging to Carol Norrs was found abandoned on the Gila River Indian Community two days before her family reported her missing.
The car was found abandoned about a mile away from her last known location, a Chevron gas station near 51st Avenue and Pecos Road in Laveen, on Nov. 18. After authorities tried and failed to contact the owner, the car was towed.
A friend tried calling Norrs on Nov. 19 and got no answer. After the friend drove by Norrs' home and noticed her car was missing, the friend notified Norrs' family.
On Nov. 20, the 86-year-old woman was reported missing. That is when authorities learned her car had been found and towed days before. It was being held at the towing company's lot, authorities said.
