PHOENIX — St. Mary's Food Bank has recently set a new record after it distributed food to more than 12,000 families in Phoenix and Surprise over the last three days.
The organization said the 12,815 families who received turkeys and holiday goodies is an amount that surpasses the all-time record set in 2016 and is a 14% increase from last year.
In the northern region of Arizona, St. Mary's distributed food to an additional 20,173 families, which was another record for the organization.
St. Mary's, an organization that's been around since 1967, estimated that a total of 100,000 people in Arizona will be able to have a Thanksgiving meal on Thursday thanks to the donated meals.
