PHOENIX — If you're a foodie, Arizona is quickly becoming a destination location for those looking for some of the best food in the country.
From amazing Mexican dishes to delicious Asian delicacies, Phoenix has a variety of spots perfect for any palette.
And our restaurants are receiving some national attention.
Esquire magazine recently announced their "50 Best New Restaurants in America" for 2023 and two Phoenix restaurants made the list. Chilte and Lom Wong are the pair of establishments now among the best in the country.
Chilte in Phoenix
Located near 7th Avenue and Van Buren Street, Chilte is a Mexican restaurant serving experimental dishes and traditional cuisine.
"Squid-ink-marbled birria tacos, which LT and his Sinaloan wife, Aseret Arroyo, began selling three years ago at local farmers markets, arrive with the requisite mug of consommé, this one tipped into deranged flavor with miso," the article read. "Each bite is a wonder. Heat lightning crackles on the horizon. Ta’ encendío, indeed."
If you're planning on visiting the restaurant, street parking is available.
Lom Wong in Phoenix
If you're looking for a taste of Thailand cuisine in the Valley, look no further than Lom Wong. Located near Portland and 3rd streets in downtown Phoenix, the restaurant was started by Alex and Yotaka Martin.
"It’s an act of love, of passionate cooking," the article read. "From one angle, Lom Wong is simply a very good restaurant. From another angle—after one or two shots of ya dong, a powerful Thai moonshine—it’s proof of, if not a divine being, then at least the benevolent tilt of the universe."
According to their website, they are open Wednesday through Sunday and online ordering is available.
