If you are in search of the largest cacti in the country, Saguaro National Park is home to this most iconic prickly plant.

Perhaps you’re interested in fossils: In that case, the Petrified Forest known for its over 200 million-year-old ecosystem could be an option. If ancestral communities are of interest, Walnut Canyon National Monument highlights the preservation of ancient cliff dwellings.

The week-long celebration also includes activities and events for all ages. There are ranger and stewardship programs for kids as well as volunteer and art workshops for adults.
