BENSON, Ariz. — A puppy in a distressing situation was recently rescued by a truck driver in southern Arizona.
On Oct. 20, a driver noticed a puppy near an Interstate 10 exit ramp in Benson with a zip-tie secured tightly around its neck and stopped to help the "cruelly abandoned" animal, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The driver removed the tie and gave the dog some water until a DPS trooper arrived. The puppy's neck was swollen and its eyes bloodshot, resulting in the DPS trooper taking the dog to a local animal shelter.
DPS said the puppy has since made a recovery and is now doing much better in a foster home.
