'He was a very good boy': Dog rescued from Kentucky sewer drain

Sebastian the husky was going to need a little assistance getting out of his peculiar predicament. The husky somehow got himself stuck in a sewer drain Sunday.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — We’ve all been stuck in a tight spot at one point or another. But for Sebastian the husky, he was going to need a little assistance getting out of his peculiar predicament.

The husky somehow got himself stuck in a sewer drain Sunday in Lexington, Kentucky.

"That's very unusual for us, sometimes we get calls about ducklings in the spring,” said Jai Hamilton of Lexington Fayette Animal Care and Control. “But this will be a first for me."

It was a rescue she certainly hadn’t seen before. And from the moment Sebastian’s piercing blue eyes peeked through the drain, she jumped into action.

"He's pretty noticeable, because he has these stunning blue eyes, when you see his face in the storm drain, which I think would shock anyone walking by," Hamilton said.

She added they're not sure how Sebastian ended up in the drain. It's possible he chased a small animal into the sewer. Hamilton and her coworkers spent nearly half an hour trying to rescue him and ended up removing the manhole cover to pull him out.

"It was a little hard because he's such a big dog, and picking him up, we don't know his behavior taking him above the storm drain,” Hamilton proclaimed. “But he was a very good boy, and I think he was just excited to get out."

Sebastian is now safe at home with his owner and ready for his next adventure. Hopefully it will be spent above ground.
