PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. — An 11-year-old boy has his Prescott Valley community to thank for the safe return of his German Shepherd, Cedar.

Cedar ran away from the vehicle he was traveling in after a crash near Robert Road and Highway 89A on Jan. 22. Cedar's owner, an 11-year-old boy, was transported to the hospital. But he told Prescott Valley police officers he was concerned for Cedar's safety after he fled.

Information about Cedar was shared on social media to assist with locating him and many members of the community reached out.

Cedar's owner found him safe and sound after the dog returned to the scene of the crash.

What a happy ending to this dog's "tail!"
