PHOENIX — The Phoenix Zoo is introducing the public to its newest addition-- a leopard named Jasper.
Jasper is a 3-year-old Amur leopard and is one of less than 100 left on Earth, according to the zoo. Less than 50 are suspected to still live in the wild.
Jasper just made the trip from Greenville Zoo in South Carolina and is getting used to his new surroundings. His night house has been made accessible to him throughout the day so don't be surprised if he is hiding during a visit in the near future.
The zoo is also getting closer to opening its new exhibit, Predator Passage, which Jasper will be a part of. The exhibit opens on Nov. 20 and will feature the Amur leopard, African lions, fennec foxes, meerkats, red river hogs, spotted hyenas and Ruppel’s griffon vultures.
