Looking for some weekend fun? The Phoenix Reptile Expo is coming to Mesa

The expo is Arizona's largest reptile show and will feature more than 50 vendors during the two-day event, Nov. 18-19.

MESA, Ariz. — James Badman has always loved animals. As a child, he had a pet tortoise and even became a tortoise breeder. From 2017 to 2022, he established an exotic animal pet store. It's safe to say Badman is an animal lover.

He's now the associate director for the department of animal care and technologies at Arizona State University.

When he wasn't working, Badman would often travel to reptile expos across the country and he said he always wondered why a large metropolitan area like Phoenix didn't have its own expo for all things reptiles.

So he decided to make one.

Now in its 15th year, the Phoenix Reptile Expo is coming to Mesa Nov. 18-19. Founded by Badman and his friend and fellow reptile enthusiast Drew Rheinhardt, the Phoenix Reptile Expo is the largest reptile show in Arizona and will feature more than 50 vendors throughout the two-day event.

“If you have any curiosity about reptiles or industry, it's a great show to attend,” Badman said.
